Project Overview
Repsol, through Repsol Sinopec Brazil, in partnership with TotalEnergies and Shell, has commenced oil production at Lapa Southwest in the Santos Basin, 300 kilometers offshore Brazil. This development will contribute an additional 25,000 barrels of oil per day, increasing the total output of the Lapa field to approximately 60,000 barrels per day.
Consortium Details
Repsol Sinopec Brazil holds a 25% working interest in the project, while TotalEnergies, the operator, holds 48%, and Shell holds 27%. The project involves the subsea tie-back of three wells to the existing Lapa Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit, which will help in developing additional reserves.
Future Developments
Repsol is focusing its exploration and production efforts on core growth areas, with Brazil being a key region. The Raia Project in the Campos Basin, developed in collaboration with Equinor and Petrobras, is expected to begin operations in 2028. This project has the potential to become a significant source of natural gas in Brazil.
