Rompetrol Rafinare Schedules Turnaround for Petromidia and Vega Refineries

Key highlights
  • Petromidia and Vega refineries will undergo a 20-day maintenance starting in early March.
  • Turnarounds occur every 4 years, with intermediate shutdowns every 2 years.
  • Maintenance includes inspections, equipment cleaning, and component replacements.
  • Rominserv will lead the works, supported by specialized companies.

Scheduled Maintenance

Rompetrol Rafinare will halt operations at the Petromidia Năvodari and Vega Ploieşti refineries for a scheduled technological turnaround. This maintenance period will begin in early March and last approximately 20 days.

Maintenance Schedule

The refineries follow a maintenance schedule with general turnarounds every four years and intermediate technological shutdowns every two years. This ensures regular inspections and updates to maintain operational efficiency and safety.

Focus of the Works

The maintenance will involve inspections, reauthorizations, equipment cleaning, and preventive inspections. Key components, such as catalysts, will be replaced to enhance production yields and ensure safe operations.

Execution and Coordination

Rominserv, the general contractor for the KMG International Group, will lead the maintenance efforts, supported by other specialized companies. The simultaneous turnaround of both refineries is necessary as Vega relies on materials from Petromidia.

Operational Continuity

Despite the shutdown, Rompetrol Rafinare will continue to meet its contractual obligations. Deliveries of petroleum products will be maintained using existing stocks and support from the KMG International Group’s trading division.
