LNG Import Growth
In 2025, Poland's LNG imports saw a significant increase, with ORLEN receiving 81 shipments at the Świnoujście terminal, marking a 30% rise from the previous year. The total volume of seaborne LNG imports reached nearly 6 million tonnes.
Terminal Expansion
The expansion of the Świnoujście terminal, completed in late 2024, increased its annual regasification capacity from 6.2 billion to 8.3 billion cubic metres. Despite this growth, the terminal maintained a near 100% utilisation rate, the highest among European LNG terminals.
Supply Sources and Export
In 2025, the majority of LNG deliveries to Świnoujście came from the United States, with 62 cargoes, followed by Qatar with 17 shipments. ORLEN also exported LNG for the first time to countries including Japan, Turkey, the UK, and Egypt.
Fleet Expansion
ORLEN's LNG carrier fleet played a crucial role in 2025, handling 12 deliveries to Świnoujście, totaling approximately 782 thousand tonnes of LNG. The fleet was bolstered by two new technologically advanced carriers, entering service in March 2025.
Future Capacity
Poland's LNG import capabilities will further increase with the upcoming Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) in the Gulf of Gdańsk, set to add 6.1 billion cubic metres per year. This will raise Poland's total LNG capacity to about 14 billion cubic metres annually.
