Eni Launches Coral North FLNG Hull

Project Overview

Eni and its partners, including CNPC, ENH, KOGAS, and XRG, have announced the hull launch of the Coral North FLNG in Geoje, South Korea. This facility is set to be the second floating LNG unit in the Rovuma Basin, offshore Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.

Timeline and Capacity

Coral North is designed to enhance efficiency and performance, with a target completion date by 2028. It will have a liquefaction capacity of 3.6 MTPA, effectively doubling Mozambique's total LNG output to 7 MTPA.

The project is expected to significantly boost Mozambique's economy by increasing LNG revenues, supporting local industry, and creating new jobs. It will also expand investments in local development initiatives.

Background

Eni has been active in Mozambique since 2006, discovering substantial natural gas resources in the Rovuma Basin between 2011 and 2014. The Coral South project, the first to produce gas from this basin, has already delivered over 135 LNG cargoes to the market.
