Key highlights
  • The European Commission approved a joint venture for CO2 transport and storage projects.
  • A joint venture for data centers in Spain was approved with negligible market impact.
  • A joint venture for electric energy services in ports was approved to support EU decarbonisation.

CO2 Transport and Storage

The European Commission has approved a joint venture between Global Infrastructure Management, LLC and Eni UK Limited for CO2 transport and storage projects in Europe. The transaction was cleared under the EU Merger Regulation, with no competition concerns due to the companies' limited market positions.

Data Centers in Spain

A joint venture between Echelon DC Holding Limited and Iberdrola Participaciones, S.A.U. has been approved for developing and operating data centers in Spain. The Commission found no competition issues, as the joint venture has negligible activities in the European Economic Area and the companies are not in the same or related markets.

Port Energy Services

The Commission also approved a joint venture between Eneco Heat Production & Industrials B.V. and Mainport Holding Rotterdam N.V. for electric energy services to ships in ports. The transaction was cleared quickly, supporting the EU's decarbonisation efforts and clean energy transition.
