INERATEC's ERA T.H2 wins EU Innovation Fund support
- The project was selected for funding by the EU Innovation Fund.
- It plans a power-and-biomass-to-liquid (PBtL) process combining renewable hydrogen with carbon from forestry residues to produce synthetic fuels and renewable hydrocarbons.
- INERATEC’s modular, standardised production modules enable efficient capacity build-up and gradual expansion, drawing on ERA ONE experience in Frankfurt‑Höchst.
- The project demonstrates decentralised production to diversify and strengthen supply of sustainable fuels and chemical feedstocks in Europe.
Project overview
ERA T.H2 combines renewable hydrogen with carbon from forestry residues. A power-and-biomass-to-liquid (PBtL) process is intended to produce sustainable synthetic fuels and renewable hydrocarbons from these materials.
Modular technology and scale-up
At the heart of the project lies INERATEC’s modular production technology. Standardised and replicable modules make it possible to build up production capacity efficiently and expand it gradually as demand grows. This approach builds on the experience gained on an industrial scale with ERA ONE in Frankfurt‑Höchst and applies it to a new application and production context.
Strategic implications
By combining locally available carbon sources with renewable energy, ERA T.H2 demonstrates how decentralised production can contribute to a diversified and more resilient supply of sustainable fuels and chemical feedstocks in Europe. The selection by the EU Innovation Fund underlines the potential of INERATEC’s modular approach to scaling up the production of synthetic fuels across different sites and applications. INERATEC congratulates TERTU EQUIPEMENTS and other consortium partners on this milestone.
