Circtec acquires Granuband to integrate tyre collection and feedstock supply

Key highlights
  • Granuband’s Amsterdam plant can process 50,000 tonnes/year of end-of-life tyres into granulate, moulded products and tyre chips.
  • Circtec’s Delfzijl chemical recycling plant is under construction following a €150 million funding round.
  • The deal creates a vertically integrated value chain from garage collection through mechanical and chemical recycling to supply of recycled chemicals, recovered carbon black and renewable fuels.
  • Amsterdam site features automated tyre selection, robotic production and deep-water port access, enabling Europe-wide logistics and traceability to individual tyre sources.

Transaction and integration

Circtec Ltd has acquired Granuband B.V. and incorporated it into the Circtec group. Granuband’s Amsterdam mechanical recycling plant will become the group’s feedstock subsidiary for Circtec’s chemical recycling facility under construction at Delfzijl, The Netherlands.

Capacity and capabilities

Granuband’s plant processes 50,000 tonnes per year of end-of-life tyres into granulate, moulded products and tyre chips. The facility includes automated tyre selection, robotic production and direct access to deep-water port transport, allowing tyres to be brought in from across Europe by ship.

Strategic impact

The acquisition creates a vertically integrated value chain from collection at the point of arising through both mechanical and chemical recycling to supply of recycled chemical feedstocks, recovered carbon black and refined renewable fuels. The Netherlands will have a national-scale capability to close the recycling loop for end-of-life tyres, with enhanced traceability and product control.

Management and execution

Maarten van Randeraat, founder and managing director of Granuband, will remain with the group to head feedstock supply. Circtec’s Delfzijl plant construction follows a successful €150 million funding round.
