Granuband B.V. is a Netherlands-based company specializing in the collection, sorting, and mechanical recycling of end-of-life tyres. Founded in 1991 by Maarten van Randeraat and headquartered in the industrial Port of Amsterdam, the firm operates a substantial recycling plant capable of processing 50,000 tonnes per year of used tyres into granulate, tyre chips, and moulded rubber products.
Its core activities encompass nationwide collection across the Netherlands and Benelux region from certified points including garages, tyre specialists, municipalities, and agricultural sites, followed by automated sorting, shredding, and separation of materials into rubber, steel, and nylon. The recovered rubber granulate serves as feedstock for its own production of circular products marketed under the Granuflex brand, including safety tiles for playgrounds, fitness floors, permeable stable tiles, terrace and drainage tiles, and other applications in construction, sports, and animal welfare.
Granuband maintains one of Europe’s most advanced mechanical recycling facilities featuring robotic production lines and direct port access for bulk transport. In June 2024, the company was acquired by Circtec Ltd, a UK-headquartered leader in chemical recycling via pyrolysis technology, and incorporated into the Circtec group while continuing to operate under its own name and produce moulded products. It now manages feedstock supply for Circtec’s large-scale pyrolysis plant under construction in Delfzijl, Netherlands, creating a vertically integrated value chain from ELT collection through mechanical and chemical recycling to outputs such as recovered carbon black, circular naphtha, and renewable fuels.
As a pioneer in European tyre recycling, Granuband contributes significantly to the circular economy in the Benelux region and supports broader European efforts to divert rubber waste from landfills while supplying high-quality recycled materials to industry.
Also known as Granuflex, Granuband Inzameling, and Granuband Recycling.
Acquisition connects Amsterdam granulate plant to Delfzijl chemical recycling, creating a vertical chain from tyre collection to recycled chemicals, recovered carbon black and renewable fuels.
