About SOCAR

SOCAR (State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan) is Azerbaijan’s state‑owned energy company, headquartered in Baku. It is active across the oil and gas value chain, including exploration and production in the Caspian basin, gas processing, refining, and participation in regional pipeline infrastructure connecting the Caspian to Türkiye and Europe. SOCAR also engages in international trading and logistics to supply crude oil, natural gas, and refined products to industrial markets.

For the chemical industry, SOCAR operates and holds interests in refining and petrochemical assets that provide fuels and key feedstocks. In Azerbaijan, its operations include gas processing and petrochemical units in the Sumgayit industrial area, alongside SOCAR Polymer, which produces polyolefins. Through SOCAR Türkiye Enerji, the company owns and operates the STAR Refinery in Aliağa and holds a majority stake in Petkim Petrokimya Holding, a major Turkish producer of polymers and chemical intermediates. These integrated assets support regional plastics, chemicals, and manufacturing value chains. SOCAR also pursues efficiency and lower‑emission initiatives under programs such as “SOCAR Green.”
