Export Development Canada (EDC) is Canada’s export credit agency and a Crown corporation wholly owned by the Government of Canada, headquartered in Ottawa. Its mandate is to support and develop Canada’s export trade and the international business of Canadian companies.
EDC provides trade finance, working capital solutions, guarantees, credit insurance, bonding, and political risk insurance to Canadian exporters, investors, and their international buyers. It participates in project and structured finance and supports sustainable finance initiatives. EDC works with companies of all sizes across a wide range of sectors—including chemicals, energy, manufacturing, and services—to help facilitate cross-border transactions and manage commercial and country risk.
