AFYREN

About AFYREN

AFYREN is a French industrial biotechnology company that develops and produces bio-based carboxylic acids using proprietary fermentation of agricultural by-products, such as sugar beet co-products. Its portfolio covers seven short-chain organic acids that are drop-in alternatives to petro-derived equivalents. The products target applications requiring high purity, including food and feed, flavors and fragrances, cosmetics, and fine and specialty chemicals. The process is designed to valorize non-food biomass, generate minimal waste, and deliver a mineral-rich fertilizer co-product.

The company’s first industrial plant, AFYREN NEOXY in Carling–Saint-Avold, France, produces biobased carboxylic acids at commercial scale. AFYREN’s approach is positioned to reduce reliance on fossil resources and lower the carbon footprint of these building-block chemicals by sourcing renewable carbon from agro-industrial side streams while meeting stringent quality and regulatory standards.
