AFYREN and MINASOLVE partner to commercialize industrial-scale biobased fragrance molecules

Key highlights
  • AFYREN and MINASOLVE will jointly market selected biobased molecules for the fragrance industry.
  • AFYREN contributes fermentation-based technology built on a fully circular model; MINASOLVE is the Minafin Group’s green chemistry arm.
  • The target customers are cosmetics and beauty companies seeking natural, traceable, lower-carbon alternatives to petrochemical-derived ingredients.
  • The partners aim to provide molecules with consistent properties, predictable costs and a significantly lower carbon footprint than petrochemical equivalents.

Partnership

AFYREN and MINASOLVE have formed a commercial partnership to market a select number of biobased molecules for the fragrance industry at industrial scale. AFYREN brings a fermentation technology based on a fully circular model, while MINASOLVE operates as the Minafin Group’s green chemistry arm, specialising in bio-based solvents, specialty intermediates and ingredients.

Market need

Fragrance ingredients are complex molecules often derived from petroleum today and can fall short of customer expectations for natural, responsibly sourced products. Cosmetics and beauty sector players are actively seeking biobased alternatives that replicate or enhance natural olfactory properties while offering consistent quality and foreseeable costs.

Objectives

The partners aim to deliver a selected portfolio of biobased molecules that meet demanding market quality requirements, combine natural and fully traceable origins, and offer a significantly lower carbon footprint than petrochemical equivalents, while ensuring stable and predictable costs.
