BioBTX Delfzijl PETRA Circular Aromatics Plant

The project will use BioBTX's proprietary ICCP technology to convert mixed plastic waste via catalytic pyrolysis into drop-in renewable aromatic oil containing benzene, toluene, xylenes and other aromatics. It demonstrates commercial feasibility of the feedstock-flexible process to enable future licensing, while delivering 70-80% lower lifecycle GHG emissions than fossil-based BTX and supporting the circular chemistry cluster at Chemical Park Delfzijl. A strategic collaboration with Rain Carbon will convert the circular aromatic oil into benzene, phthalic anhydride, and other aromatic derivatives meeting fossil-based quality standards for applications in pharmaceuticals, coatings, toys, and automotive sectors.
