Técnicas Reunidas to supply hydrogen reformers for Dangote’s Gode fertilizer complex
- Dangote’s Gode fertilizer complex is planned to produce 3 million tonnes per year of urea using Ethiopia’s natural gas reserves.
- Técnicas Reunidas was awarded the contract to supply two hydrogen production reformers with combined capacity of over 200,000 Nm³/h.
- TR-Technical will handle design, procurement, manufacture and FOB supply, with delivery within a maximum of 18 months.
- Topsoe is the technology licensor for the reformers, and the award follows Técnicas Reunidas’ recent engineering contract for a large green hydrogen plant in South Africa.
Contract scope
The Dangote Group awarded Técnicas Reunidas the contract to supply two hydrogen production reformers for the ammonia and urea fertilizer complex being developed in Gode, Somali region, Ethiopia. The scope covers design, procurement, manufacture and FOB supply.
Project and capacities
The Gode plant will use Ethiopia’s natural gas to produce ammonia and urea and is planned to have an annual urea capacity of 3 million tonnes. The two reformers will provide hydrogen at a combined production capacity of over 200,000 Nm³/h.
Suppliers and timing
TR-Technical, the Técnicas Reunidas division for heat-transfer equipment, will supply the reformers within a maximum of 18 months. Topsoe will act as technology licensor for the reformers. The award follows a recent Técnicas Reunidas engineering contract for a large green hydrogen plant in South Africa.
