Project Overview

Ethiopian Investment Holdings and Dangote Group have signed an agreement to develop a urea fertilizer production complex in Gode, Ethiopia. The project, valued at $2.5 billion, will be one of the largest industrial investments in the country's history, with Dangote holding a 60% stake and EIH 40%.

Production Capacity

The facility will be among the world's largest single-site urea production complexes, with a capacity of up to 3 million metric tons per annum. It will rank among the top five globally, significantly boosting Ethiopia's fertilizer production capabilities.

Infrastructure and Resources

The project includes the construction of advanced gas transport pipelines to utilize natural gas from Ethiopia's Hilal and Calub reserves. This infrastructure will ensure a reliable and cost-effective feedstock supply for the fertilizer complex.

Timeline and Impact

Completion is targeted within 40 months from commencement. The project aims to reduce Ethiopia's dependence on fertilizer imports, enhance food security, and create thousands of jobs in the Somali Regional State and beyond.
