- Technip Energies took a minority equity stake in Verso Energy's DEZiR eSAF project in Rouen and will deploy its Canopy by T.EN (Shell CANSOLV) carbon capture solution.
- Rely, the Technip Energies-John Cockerill Power-to-X JV, was awarded the project's FEED contract signed in November 2025.
- The Rouen plant targets operation around 2030 to produce 80,000 t/yr of eSAF using biogenic CO2 captured from nearby industries and is backed by France 2030 and the EU Innovation Fund.
- Verso Energy committed a seven-plant eSAF development portfolio in Rouen, Épinal, Saillat-sur-Vienne and Tartas (France), Oulu and Tornio (Finland) and Jesup (USA) to enable replication.
Transaction and scope
Technip Energies acquired a minority stake in Verso Energy's DEZiR eSAF project in Rouen and will provide its Canopy by T.EN™ carbon capture solution (powered by Shell CANSOLV); Rely, the Technip Energies–John Cockerill Power‑to‑X JV, was awarded the FEED contract signed in November 2025.
Technology and feedstock
The project will capture biogenic CO2 from nearby industries for use in synthetic aviation fuel (eSAF) production using the deployed carbon capture system.
Output and timeline
The facility targets operation around 2030 with an expected output of 80,000 tonnes per year of decarbonized aviation fuel and has been selected under France 2030 and supported by the European Innovation Fund.
Replication and portfolio
Verso Energy has contributed a seven‑plant eSAF development portfolio (Rouen, Épinal, Saillat‑sur‑Vienne, Tartas in France; Oulu and Tornio in Finland; Jesup, Georgia, USA) to maximize replicability, lower costs and accelerate time‑to‑market.
