Sinopec mobilises units to secure winter energy supplies

Key highlights
  • Natural Gas Company injected nearly 2.8 billion cubic meters into 13 gas storage facilities, creating 3.6 billion cubic meters of working gas.
  • Natural Gas Company’s gas extraction peak‑shaving capacity can reach 50 million cubic meters per day.
  • Zhongyuan Oilfield gas storage group completed its annual injection target and has cumulatively injected 3.467 billion cubic meters and extracted 1.707 billion cubic meters.
  • Xinxing New Energy plans to start full geothermal heating in early to mid‑November, targeting over one million households.

Overview

Sinopec units carried out early, coordinated preparations to secure winter and spring heating through resource procurement, operational optimisation, supply consolidation and strengthened safety controls.

Natural Gas Company

By October 29 the company had injected nearly 2.8 billion cubic meters into 13 storage facilities, establishing 3.6 billion cubic meters of working gas and exceeding its annual injection target ahead of schedule. Its extraction peak‑shaving capacity can reach 50 million cubic meters per day. Measures include coordinated sourcing with major fields (Puguang, Yuanba), orderly handling of imports and LNG tank fills, supply‑side allocation and demand‑side regulation, and prioritized emergency supply for residents and key sectors while maintaining safe high‑load operations.

Zhongyuan Oilfield Gas Storage Group

Following valve opening on April 20, the group completed its annual injection target by October 21. It ran coordinated operations across storage facilities (Wei 11, Wen 13 West, Wen 24), applied a ‘one plan per storage/unit’ control regime, and used a 24/7 smart monitoring platform to manage injection rhythms. Technical work addressed reservoir blockage and water intrusion to raise injection capacity and storage utilisation; cumulative injections total 3.467 billion cubic meters with 1.707 billion cubic meters extracted to date.

Field operations and geothermal readiness

North China focused on cold‑protection, insulation, one‑plan‑per‑well winter production plans, pigging operations and insulated shelter construction. Northeast tracked pipeline pressures in real time and stocked anti‑freeze and emergency equipment. Xinxing New Energy completed maintenance, pressure testing and control‑system upgrades and plans to start full geothermal heating in early to mid‑November for over one million households.
