RWE Partners with ADNOC and Masdar to Boost Energy Security in Europe

Strategic LNG Collaboration

RWE and ADNOC have signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement to explore LNG deliveries to Germany and other European markets. The agreement outlines the potential supply of up to 1 million tonnes of LNG per year for a decade, equating to up to 12 cargoes and 1.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually. This partnership aims to enhance energy security and diversify RWE's global LNG portfolio.

Battery Energy Storage Investment

RWE and Masdar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to invest in battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Germany. Masdar plans to invest in existing BESS projects owned by RWE, with a capacity of up to 1 gigawatt by 2030. Additionally, both companies will explore the joint development of new BESS projects, targeting up to 1 gigawatt by 2035. These initiatives aim to support renewable energy expansion and ensure a stable power supply in Germany.

Witnessed Agreements

The exchange of these agreements was witnessed by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during the Chancellor's state visit to the UAE. The agreements signify a commitment to long-term cooperation between RWE and UAE companies, focusing on energy security and sustainability in Europe.
