PETRONAS LNG signs 20-year charter with MISC for five LNG carriers

Agreement
PETRONAS LNG Ltd. signed a 20-year time charter with MISC for five newbuild 174,000‑cbm LNG carriers; the agreement was signed by PLL CEO Ezran Mahadzir and MISC VP Hazrin Hasan.
Shipbuilding and schedule
Shipbuilding contracts between MISC and Hudong‑Zhonghua were concluded in January–February 2026; the vessels will be built in Shanghai with charter commencement and deliveries expected between 2029 and 2030.
Vessel features
The carriers will incorporate XDF2.1 propulsion, shaft generators to improve fuel efficiency, and an onboard reliquefaction plant to manage boil‑off.
Management and operations
MISC will provide project management during construction and will handle operationalisation and ship management from delivery onward.
