Deal

PETRONAS LNG Ltd. (PLL) signed a new LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement with Shizuoka Gas for approximately 0.84 million metric tonnes of LNG to be delivered over seven years, commencing in 2032. The arrangement uses PETRONAS' diversified global LNG portfolio to provide supply flexibility and reliability to support Shizuoka Gas' evolving energy requirements.

Ceremony and history

The signing took place in Kuala Lumpur and was attended by PETRONAS Executive Vice President and CEO of Gas and Maritime Business Datuk Adif Zulkifli and Shizuoka Gas Representative Director and President Yoshitake Matsumoto. The ceremony also marked the 30th anniversary of the first LNG cargo delivered by PETRONAS to Shizuoka Gas.

Strategic context

The companies presented the SPA as reinforcing long‑term energy security and supply resilience amid changing market dynamics, reflecting rising demand for flexible LNG supply solutions. PETRONAS stated its commitment to delivering reliable and flexible LNG through its global portfolio while supporting a pragmatic and responsible energy transition.

Future collaboration

Building on three decades of partnership, Shizuoka Gas and PETRONAS intend to strengthen their relationship beyond traditional seller–buyer roles by exploring joint opportunities for decarbonisation along the LNG value chain.
