Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., legally known as 沪东中华造船（集团）有限公司, is a leading state-owned shipbuilder and subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), headquartered in Shanghai, China. Formed in 2001 through the merger of Hudong Shipyard (est. 1928) and Zhonghua Shipyard (est. 1926), it specializes in constructing advanced civilian and military vessels, with a particular expertise in large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, ultra-large container ships, and naval frigates and landing ships.
The company operates major facilities along the Huangpu River and on Changxing Island, equipped with multiple 300,000-ton-class dry docks, extensive wharf lines, and heavy-lift capabilities. Renowned as the world's largest holder of LNG carrier orders by capacity, Hudong-Zhonghua has delivered over 60 such vessels and maintains a robust orderbook exceeding 50 units. It also produces heavy-duty marine diesel engines and large steel structures, supporting offshore engineering projects.
