Petrobras contracted two thermoelectric plants in the 3rd Capacity Reserve Auction (LRCAP 03/2026) organized by ANEEL and CCEE with technical support from EPE; the auction focused on plants powered by diesel oil, fuel oil and biodiesel.
Capacity and revenue
Combined with eight plants contracted in the 2nd LRCAP, Petrobras secured nine plants totaling approximately 2.6 GW of firm capacity for the National Interconnected System (SIN) covering 2026–2031, with estimated annual fixed revenue of about R$4.45 billion.
Thermoelectric portfolio
The company's thermoelectric portfolio comprises 13 plants with 4.9 GW of capacity, contracted for periods set by their products and ready to deliver power and energy according to SIN needs, equivalent to roughly 21 million households.
