- R$870 million invested to reactivate Ansa after hibernation since 2020, enabling urea production resumption
- Mobilization generated more than 2,000 jobs and the plant will maintain about 700 direct positions
- Ansa capacity: 720,000 t/year urea; 475,000 t/year ammonia; 450,000 m3/year ARLA 32
- With Ansa plus FAFEN-BA and FAFEN-SE, Petrobras' domestic urea share should reach ~20%, rising to ~35% after UFN-III starts commercial operation in 2029
Reactivation and restart
Petrobras restarted urea production at Araucária Nitrogenados (Ansa) on April 30, the first output since the plant was hibernated in 2020; the resumption followed the decision announced in 2024.
Investment and jobs
Reactivation required R$870 million in investments; the mobilization phase generated over 2,000 jobs and the plant will maintain about 700 direct positions in regular operation.
Preparation and initial outputs
Preparation included maintenance, technical inspections, operational tests, team recomposition and contracting; prior to urea restart, Ansa produced ARLA 32 and ammonia under an industrialization contract.
Market impact and outlook
With Ansa added to the recent returns of FAFEN-SE (Dec 2025) and FAFEN-BA (Jan 2026), Petrobras' domestic urea share is expected to reach roughly 20%, rising toward an estimated 35% once the UFN-III unit in Três Lagoas begins commercial operation projected for 2029.
