Agreement Overview
On January 27, 2026, Orlen and ABO Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Warsaw to produce and supply green hydrogen to Poland starting in the 2030s. This agreement is part of a broader effort to establish hydrogen supply chains in Central Europe.
Finnish Hydrogen Projects
ABO Energy is developing two hydrogen projects in Finland: the Kurunpuhto project in Nivala and the Pyyryväinen project in Oulu. Together, these projects aim to produce up to 100,000 tons of green hydrogen annually by 2035. The Kurunpuhto project could see its first phase completed by 2030.
Next Steps
ABO Energy has completed a feasibility study for the Kurunpuhto project, confirming its technical and commercial viability. The next step involves conducting an environmental impact assessment. Concurrently, a more detailed concept for the Pyyryväinen project will be developed.
