Contract and scope
Nextchem, via its nitrogen technology licensor Stamicarbon, has been selected by a prominent international player to supply the technology license, Process Design Package (PDP) and proprietary equipment for a new 3,150 metric tons per day (MTPD) urea plant in China.
Technology and performance
The plant will be based on NX STAMI™ Urea and will adopt the Ultra‑Low Energy (ULE) design. The ULE design is reported to reduce steam consumption by 35% and cooling water usage by 16% compared with conventional urea processes, using high‑pressure steam integration and an advanced pool reactor design.
Strategic significance
The award expands Nextchem’s footprint in China’s fertilizer market and reinforces the competitiveness of its proprietary nitrogen technologies by combining lower energy and water intensity with the company’s engineered equipment and PDP offering.
