Loop Industries signed a multi‑year offtake agreement with Nike under which Loop will supply Twist™, its virgin‑quality polyester resin made exclusively from textile waste. Nike is designated as the anchor customer for the Infinite Loop™ India manufacturing facility, being built in partnership with Ester Industries.
Facility impact
The Infinite Loop™ India facility is modelled on a 70,000 tonne per year design. A life‑cycle assessment comparing Loop PET to virgin PET estimates an 81% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and annual savings of up to 418,600 tonnes of CO₂ versus production of fossil fuel‑based PET and avoided incineration of the feedstock.
Traceability and product use
All Twist™ products will include Loop’s proprietary chemical tracer technology to provide verifiable textile‑to‑textile recycled content. Nike plans to use Twist™ to reduce the use of both virgin and recycled flake polyester across its product lines.
