Contract award

ELITe, the India joint venture between Loop Industries and Ester Industries, has awarded the detailed engineering contract for its Infinite Loop India project to Toyo Engineering India. The scope includes detailed design, procurement engineering and technical documentation, and follows front‑end engineering design (FEED) carried out by Tata Consulting Engineers. The award represents the final engineering milestone before construction.

Project scope and schedule

The facility is designed to produce 70,000 metric tonnes per year of PET resin from low‑value textile and plastic waste, enabling textile‑to‑textile recycling and food‑contact packaging applications. The joint venture states construction remains on schedule with projected completion by the end of 2027, and land for the plant has been secured.

Costs and financing

Overall capital expenditures are reported to be trending below the $176 million budget, with $5 million of realized savings from land acquisition. KPMG in India is leading the debt financing process and the project team says it has received multiple term sheets from international lenders.

Commercial visibility

The JV recently signed a multi‑year offtake agreement with Nike as the anchor customer. Company leaders from Loop, Ester and Toyo commented that the detailed engineering award advances the project toward construction and commercial operation.
