Ultrasuede™ Adoption

Toray Industries, Inc. announced that its Ultrasuede™ material has been selected for the upholstery of the "Ella Lounge" and "675 Chair," two popular models from British furniture brand Case. The material is praised for its ability to complement the sophisticated simplicity of Case Furniture.

Sustainable Composition

The Ultrasuede™ used in these products is made from polyester polymerized with ethylene glycol derived from sugarcane waste and polyurethane composed of polyol from castor oil. Approximately 30% of the material is plant-based, aligning with ISO 16620-1 standards for biobased synthetic polymer content.

Environmental Impact

By incorporating Ultrasuede™, Case Furniture aims to provide a refined user experience while reducing CO2 emissions compared to conventional petroleum-based polyester Ultrasuede™.

European Expansion

In January 2026, Toray opened a new Ultrasuede™ showroom in Portugal as part of its strategy to expand its presence in the European interior market. This move is intended to enhance local support and strengthen partnerships with leading European interior brands.
