SOCAR and KMG reach 4 million tonnes of Kazakhstan oil transit via Azerbaijan

Project update

SOCAR and KazMunayQaz (KMG) have continued transporting Kazakhstan crude through Azerbaijan, reaching a cumulative transit volume of 4 million tonnes.

Recent shipment

The 427th cargo left Aktau port on 12 March aboard the tanker President Heydar Aliyev and arrived at SOCAR's Sangachal terminal on 13 March.

Origins and route

Of the transited volume, 3.8 million tonnes are from the Tengiz field and 200,000 tonnes from Kashagan; oil delivered to Sangachal is moved via the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline to Ceyhan for export markets.

Timeline

The first Tengiz cargo via Aktau arrived in Baku on 23 March 2023 and the first Kashagan cargo on 27 January 2025; SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC represents the Azerbaijani side in the project.
