SOCAR and KMG transit 4 million tons of Kazakh oil via Azerbaijan

Transit milestone

SOCAR and KazMunayGas continued their transport project, bringing cumulative transit of Kazakh oil via Azerbaijan to 4.0 million tons.

Recent shipment

The 427th batch departed Aktau port on March 12 aboard the tanker President Heydar Aliyev and arrived at the Sangachal Terminal on March 13.

Origin of volumes

Of the total, 3.8 million tons are from the Tengiz field and 200,000 tons from the Kashagan field; the first Tengiz delivery occurred on March 23, 2023 and the first Kashagan shipment arrived on January 27, 2025.

Route to market

Crude shipped from Aktau to Sangachal is transferred onto the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline to Ceyhan for export, with the Azerbaijani side represented by SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC.
