Iberdrola has finalized the sale of its gas assets for slurry treatment in Spain to Edison Next. The transaction, initially announced in December, includes five operational slurry treatment plants with a total capacity of 52 MW. Additionally, four biomethane projects are under development, expected to produce 340 GWh annually.

Strategic Alignment

This sale is part of Iberdrola's broader strategy to focus on electrification and renewable energy. The company is actively rotating its assets and forming alliances to transition towards sectors with higher growth potential, such as electrical networks and renewable generation.

Recent Activities

In line with this strategy, Iberdrola has engaged in several significant transactions. These include acquiring its partner PREVI's stake in its Brazilian subsidiary Neoenergía and launching a takeover bid to secure full ownership. The company has also formed an alliance with Masdar to co-invest €5.2 billion in the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm in the UK, which will have a capacity of 1,400 MW. Additionally, Iberdrola has made divestment agreements in Mexico, Hungary, and France.
