Event and purpose
Iberdrola presented its third Convive Awards in Sigüenza, gathering more than 150 people to highlight rural potential in the energy transition. The awards recognise initiatives that promote environmental, agricultural and social harmony with clean energy, and showcase opportunities beyond renewable generation—covering grids, electrification and manufacturing linked to the transition.
Winners and featured projects
Ten initiatives won awards across six categories. In Innovation with Impact, Birka Composites was recognised for a biodiversity‑compatible rural industrial model and Bayer Spain for fully decarbonising the industrial process for the active ingredient in Aspirin, cutting process emissions by more than 10,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually. The Basque Government’s Urdaibai Reserve Network Integration Project was honoured for modernising and environmentalising electricity infrastructure.
Transformative Entrepreneurship awards went to the Arraigo Project—turning renewables into population growth—and the Clúster Industrial de Lucena, a 60‑year regional hub for heat pump and HVAC manufacture that supports 3,200 skilled jobs in a town of 42,000. Convive Programme focus
The Convive Programme aims to accelerate clean energy development while enhancing local socio‑economic contribution and biodiversity. It pursues three lines of action: contributing to socio‑economic development, protecting and enhancing biodiversity through better integration of facilities, and learning from experts to improve social acceptance and impact.
