IDAE (Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía) is a Spanish public agency focused on advancing energy efficiency, renewable energy deployment, and economy-wide decarbonization. It develops support programs, provides technical guidance, and helps mobilize investment to expand clean energy technologies across sectors.
For the chemical and process industries, IDAE’s priorities include renewable gases (biogas and biomethane), sustainable fuels (including advanced biofuels and synthetic e-fuels), green hydrogen and related infrastructure, industrial electrification and heat recovery, and energy management systems. The agency backs pilot and scale-up projects, manages incentive and financing schemes, and promotes public–private collaboration to accelerate low‑carbon technologies and improve resource efficiency. Its initiatives aim to reduce energy intensity and emissions in industrial operations while supporting Spain’s climate and energy objectives.
