EnviTec Biogas Launches First Biogas Upgrading Project in Belgium

Key highlights
  • The biogas plant will connect to an existing facility and complete by July 2026.
  • It will inject 735 Nm³/h of biomethane into the Belgian gas grid.
  • The plant will produce 24 tons of bio-LCO2 daily.
  • Two more biogas plants in the Netherlands are in planning for biomethane and CO2 liquefaction.

Project Overview

EnviTec Biogas, in collaboration with Byont, has signed a contract for its first biogas upgrading plant in Belgium. The project involves connecting the new plant to an existing biogas facility.

Production Capacity

Upon completion in July 2026, the plant will inject 735 Nm³/h of biomethane into the Belgian gas grid. Additionally, it will produce 24 tons of bio-LCO2 daily, contributing to the circular economy of CO2.

Technological Implementation

The project includes the implementation of the EnviThan gas upgrading system with CO2 liquefaction. EnviTec will also handle the conversion of the existing biogas facility to meet the latest standards.

Future Plans

Byont plans to convert two more biogas plants in the Netherlands to biomethane production with CO2 liquefaction, utilizing EnviTec's engineering expertise. These projects are currently in the planning and approval phase.
