Eni and BMW Group agree use of Enilive HVOlution for BMW corporate fleets
- HVOlution is produced from 100% renewable feedstocks at Enilive biorefineries in Venice and Gela.
- Average supply-chain CO₂eq reduction for Enilive HVO in 2025 was 79.5% versus the fossil reference.
- About 1,700 Enilive stations across Italy, Germany and Austria supply 100% pure HVO.
- BMW has approved HVO for Diesel models registered from late 2014 equipped with Generation B diesel engines.
Agreement
Eni and BMW Group will power BMW vehicles in corporate fleets in Italy with Enilive HVOlution, a 100% pure hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) diesel produced by Enilive.
Fuel and emissions
Enilive biorefineries in Venice and Gela process mainly waste and residues, including used cooking oil and animal fats, to produce HVO as a drop-in diesel fuel. Using the EU Renewable Energy Directive criterion, the average reduction in CO₂eq emissions across the entire supply chain for Enilive HVO produced in 2025 was 79.5% compared to the reference fossil mix (94 g CO₂eq/MJ).
Fleet deployment and traceability
BMW Group is operating demo and development diesel fleets powered by pure HVO across Italy, Germany and Austria, where approximately 1,700 Enilive stations supply HVOlution. BMW is developing a technical solution that compares vehicle refuelling data with fleet operators’ payment systems to trace fuel used by each vehicle.
Approvals and customer measures
In accordance with EN 15940, BMW approved the use of HVO diesel fuels for Diesel models registered from late 2014 with Generation B diesel engines. BMW Italia is also providing Enilive HVOlution vouchers to buyers of new BMW diesel vehicles in Italy.
