Grant Awarded
The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has awarded a €551 million grant to RWE for a 100-megawatt electrolysis project near the Magnum Power Station in Eemshaven. This funding is part of the Sustainable Energy Production and Climate Transition Incentive Scheme (SDE++) by the Dutch government.
Project Details
The electrolysis plant will be powered by green electricity from the OranjeWind offshore windfarm, which RWE is developing with TotalEnergies. The project recently received construction and environmental permits.
Next Steps
Upcoming phases include Front End Engineering and Design, identifying construction partners, and securing offtake agreements before making a financial investment decision.
Hydrogen Strategy
Green hydrogen is central to RWE's investment strategy, with the company involved in all stages of the hydrogen value chain. RWE is also exploring opportunities to build electrolysers in Rotterdam and Zeeland.
