Investment Overview
Boliden is investing MSEK 350 (approximately €34 million) in the converter aisle and sulphuric acid plant at Rönnskär. This investment, primarily occurring in 2019 and 2020, aims to increase the capacity to process raw materials at Rönnskär by 12%. The new capacity is expected to be operational by early 2021. This investment is part of the 2019 budget, as presented in the 2018 third quarter report.
Ongoing Investment Programme
The investment at Rönnskär is part of a broader ongoing investment programme, which includes the deep repository and leaching plant. This programme, with a total investment of MSEK 1,400, began in 2015 and will continue until 2020. The goal is to improve resource utilization and increase capacity at the smelter.
Additional Upgrades
In addition to the capacity expansion, Boliden has decided to replace the existing slag crusher. This upgrade aims to enhance the ability to return slag products to processes both at Rönnskär and in the Boliden area's concentrator.
