SEFE Securing Energy for Europe GmbH

About SEFE

SEFE Securing Energy for Europe GmbH (SEFE) is a German state-owned energy group based in Berlin. Evolving from the former Gazprom Germania, SEFE operates across the European natural gas value chain, including procurement and trading, supply to industrial, commercial, and municipal customers, underground gas storage, and participation in pipeline transmission through joint ventures. The company’s activities support energy-intensive sectors such as chemicals by providing flexible gas sourcing and system balancing services.

Through subsidiaries including WINGAS and astora, SEFE manages significant gas portfolios and operates major underground storage facilities in Germany and neighboring markets. The group is active in LNG sourcing and portfolio optimization and is working on the integration of lower-carbon gases as Europe’s energy system transitions. SEFE’s core mandate is to help secure reliable gas supply for Europe while maintaining critical infrastructure and market services.
