Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC

About Naftogaz Group

Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC (Naftogaz Group) is Ukraine’s state-owned energy holding company, established in 1998 and headquartered in Kyiv. It is one of the country’s largest enterprises and plays a central role in the national oil and gas sector.

The group operates across the value chain, focusing on exploration and production of natural gas, crude oil, and condensate (primarily through subsidiaries and affiliates such as Ukrgazvydobuvannya and Ukrnafta), gas processing, and the production of LPG and other light hydrocarbons. Naftogaz also conducts wholesale and retail natural gas supply to industrial and household customers, manages underground gas storage via Ukrtransgaz, and is active in energy trading and import balancing through interconnections with European markets. Following gas market unbundling in 2020, Ukraine’s gas transmission system is operated by the independent Gas TSO of Ukraine, separate from Naftogaz.

Naftogaz is a key instrument of Ukraine’s energy policy, supporting supply diversification, seasonal storage services, and market integration with the European Union. Its activities are integral to the country’s energy security, infrastructure reliability, and ongoing sector reforms.
