Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC (Naftogaz Group) is Ukraine’s state-owned energy holding focused on natural gas and oil. The group’s core activities include exploration and production of natural gas and condensate, marketing and supply to households, businesses, and public utilities, natural gas trading in European markets, and operation of underground gas storage through its subsidiaries.
Naftogaz develops domestic hydrocarbon resources (notably via Ukrgasvydobuvannya) and manages one of Europe’s largest underground gas storage systems, supporting seasonal balancing and cross‑border flexibility for regional energy markets. Following Ukraine’s gas market reforms, operation of the national gas transmission system has been unbundled to an independent TSO, while Naftogaz concentrates on upstream production, storage, import diversification, and customer supply. The group also handles associated liquids such as LPG and condensate. Naftogaz plays a central role in Ukraine’s energy security and integration with European supply chains, including sourcing gas via interconnections and regasification capacity in EU terminals.
