Glencore

Glencore is a diversified natural resources company and commodity marketer headquartered in Baar, Switzerland. Formed from the legacy trading firm founded in 1974 and its later combination with Xstrata, it is among the world’s largest integrated groups spanning mining, smelting, refining, recycling, and global marketing.

The company produces and markets metals and minerals including copper, cobalt, nickel, zinc, and ferroalloys, and is active in energy products such as coal and oil. Glencore operates industrial assets and logistics networks across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia-Pacific, linking mine and smelter output with end users through storage, blending, and distribution.

For the chemical and materials sectors, Glencore is a key supplier of feedstocks and intermediates: base and battery metals used in catalysts, alloys, and energy storage; sulphuric acid and sulphur produced via its smelting operations; and oil products such as naphtha and LPG that serve as petrochemical crackers’ inputs. It also operates recycling businesses for electronics and battery materials, contributing secondary raw materials back into industrial supply chains.

Glencore’s activities span long-term offtake agreements, spot marketing, and risk management, providing market connectivity between producers and chemical, energy, and manufacturing customers worldwide.
