About DNV

DNV AS is a Norway-based global assurance and risk management company serving safety‑critical and asset‑intensive industries. With roots in Det Norske Veritas (founded 1864) and a period as DNV GL after its merger with Germanischer Lloyd (2013–2020), the group rebranded to DNV in 2021. From its headquarters near Oslo (Høvik), DNV provides classification, certification, technical advisory, testing, inspection and verification, and digital assurance across the maritime, energy, and process sectors.

For the chemical value chain, DNV supports producers, terminals, and logistics operators with process safety and risk assessments (e.g., HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA, QRA), asset integrity and reliability management, functional safety, and management system certification (such as ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and 50001). The company conducts supply-chain audits, verifies greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability disclosures, advises on decarbonization and energy efficiency, and assesses cybersecurity for industrial control systems. DNV also develops widely used technical standards and recommended practices and offers software for consequence modeling, risk quantification, and asset performance to help organizations manage compliance and improve operational safety and resilience.
