Carbon Centric shares Rakkestad carbon-capture experience across Nordics
- Rakkestad reached seven to nine months of commercial operation during spring presentations.
- Carbon Centric presented at Bio-CO2 Use and Removal 2026 (Helsinki, 5 May), CO₂ Capture, Storage & Reuse (Copenhagen, 20–21 May) and CO₂ Impact Workshop (Trondheim, 4 June).
- The plant captures CO₂ from Østfold Energi's waste-to-energy facility and supplies recycled, food-grade liquid CO₂ for CCU.
- Presentations covered operational carbon capture, the role of CO₂ liquefaction, and lessons learned; Trondheim event was organised by the Gemini Centre (NTNU, University of South-Eastern Norway, SINTEF).
Spring conference tour
After almost a year in commercial operation, Carbon Centric presented operational experience from the Rakkestad carbon capture plant at events in Helsinki (Bio-CO2 Use and Removal 2026 on 5 May), Copenhagen (CO₂ Capture, Storage & Reuse Conference on 20–21 May) and Trondheim (CO₂ Impact Workshop on 4 June).
Presentations and attendees
Project Manager Raymond Forbord spoke in Helsinki after seven months of commercial operation and in Copenhagen alongside DNV and Pentair, focusing on operational carbon capture projects and CO₂ liquefaction. CTO Arne Jakobsen presented lessons learned after nine months of operation at the Trondheim workshop, and Project Engineer Emmy Kristine Rustad also attended.
Plant feedstock and product
The Rakkestad plant captures CO₂ from Østfold Energi's waste-to-energy facility and supplies recycled, food-grade liquid CO₂ to industry for carbon capture and utilisation (CCU).
Operational experience and development
Experience from Rakkestad is being fed directly into the development of Carbon Centric's upcoming projects.
