WACKER unveils high-performance silicones for FAKUMA
- WACKER is presenting two new liquid silicone rubbers at FAKUMA (Oct 12–16) in Hall A6, Booth A6‑6212.
- ELASTOSIL LR 5471 is self-adhesive, food- and babycare-compliant without postcure, with elongation up to 570% and tear strength 38 N/mm (ASTM D624 B).
- ELASTOSIL LR 3822 continuously exudes silicone oil to aid assembly, stretches to 270% post-cure, stays elastic to −45 °C and retains most properties after 1,000 h in glycol‑water at 125 °C.
- WACKER is also exhibiting GENIOPLAST additives for polyolefins/thermoplastics and GENIOPERL tougheners for epoxy and vinyl‑ester systems.
New silicone elastomers at FAKUMA
From October 12–16 at FAKUMA (Hall A6, Booth A6‑6212), WACKER presents two liquid silicone rubber grades: ELASTOSIL LR 5471 for overmolding sensitive and food-contact parts, and ELASTOSIL LR 3822 for seals in EV battery cooling circuits.
ELASTOSIL LR 5471: self-adhesive and tear-resistant
LR 5471 bonds to metals and thermoplastics without surface treatment or thermal postcure and meets German BfR and babycare/food-contact requirements. It delivers elongation at break up to 570%, tear strength of 38 N/mm (ASTM D624 B) and is available in Shore A 40 and 50, making it suited for high-volume overmolding and co‑molding of gaskets, scrapers and soft babycare components.
ELASTOSIL LR 3822: oil-exuding, coolant-resistant LSR
LR 3822 releases silicone oil to form a lubricant film that eases machine assembly, offers high resilience and low-temperature flexibility down to −45 °C, and can be stretched 270% without damage. It is the first oil-exuding grade from WACKER with pronounced coolant resistance, retaining most mechanical properties after 1,000 hours in a glycol‑water mix at 125 °C and showing a compression set of 44%.
Additives and application support
WACKER’s GENIOPLAST additives improve compounding, processability and surface/mechanical properties of polyolefins and engineering plastics, while GENIOPERL tougheners target epoxy and vinyl‑ester systems. The new LSRs are showcased on-site and will be highlighted in a presentation by Michael Kalchauer on October 13 at 14:20.
