New Plant Overview
Versalis has opened a new plant in Porto Marghera dedicated to producing plastics from mechanically recycled raw materials. This facility is part of the company's efforts to support a circular and sustainable economy through technological innovation and recycling.
Production Capacity and Materials
The plant has an annual production capacity of up to 20,000 tonnes of crystal polystyrene (r-GPPS) and expandable polystyrene (r-EPS). These are produced using secondary raw materials obtained from recycling expanded polystyrene waste.
Product Range and Applications
The materials produced are part of the Versalis ReviveĀ® range, containing 35% to 100% post-consumer recycled plastics. They are primarily intended for the packaging and construction sectors, including thermal insulation panels and protective packaging for appliances.
Strategic Importance
This project addresses the structural crisis in the European chemical industry and strengthens Versalis' product portfolio. The plant's location near other Versalis facilities supports efficient logistics for raw materials and finished products.
