Sale of Datteln 4
Uniper has completed the sale of the Datteln 4 coal-fired power plant to ResInvest Group. The plant, commissioned in 2020, is a modern facility with a net electrical output of 1,052 megawatts. It is recognized for its efficiency and flexibility among coal-fired power stations worldwide.
Role and Function
Datteln 4 supplies electricity to households, provides traction power to Deutsche Bahn, and offers district heating to several thousand homes in the northern Ruhr area. The site currently employs over 100 people.
EU Commission Approval
On 20 December 2022, the EU Commission approved a stabilization package for Uniper under EU state aid law. This approval included a series of structural remedies that Uniper is required to fulfill, one of which was the sale of the Datteln 4 power plant.
