Equinor: Troll Phase 3 Stage 2 boosts gas supply to Troll A

Production start
Production from Troll Phase 3 stage 2 began on 22 August, supplying additional gas to the Troll A platform and supporting deliveries through the Kollsnes processing plant, which marks its 30th anniversary this year.
Volumes and timing
The project accelerates production of about 55 billion standard cubic metres from the Troll West reservoir. Phase 3 stage 2 came on stream just over two years after the partnership’s investment decision.
Execution and cost performance
The development reused subsea facilities and standardised solutions from the 2021 Phase 3 project to reduce execution time and costs. The eight-well drilling campaign was completed in five and a half months by the Deepsea Aberdeen rig—25% faster than planned—and the start-up was delivered ahead of schedule and several hundred million Norwegian kroner below the original NOK 12.3 billion estimate.
Infrastructure and economic impact
Key contractors and suppliers included OneSubsea, Aker Solutions, Ocean Installer, SLB, Baker Hughes, Pioneering Spirit and Randaberg Industries; work covered templates, manifolds, an extended umbilical, MEG line extension and a 28-kilometre, 36-inch pipeline. The project helps sustain gas deliveries to Europe, local jobs and state revenues, with more than 90% of Troll profits passing to the Norwegian state via taxes and Petoro.
