Trinseo published its 16th annual Sustainability and CSR Report covering fiscal year 2025, emphasising progress on sustainability commitments amid challenging industry conditions with a focus on innovation, operational resilience and circular solutions.

Updated sustainability targets

The company enhanced seven Sustainability Goals in 2025 across Climate Change, Supplier Responsibility and Responsible Operations while continuing work on Sustainable Product Portfolio and Sustainable Workforce targets. The Scope 1 & 2 emissions intensity reduction target was raised to 50% by 2035, with a 41% reduction achieved from the 2017 baseline as of 2025. The renewable electricity goal was expanded to source 30% of electricity from renewables by 2030, and the Company reported a 28% renewable electricity share in 2025. Water Stewardship was broadened to focus on long-term resilience through site-level stewardship plans after meeting its previous freshwater intake target.

Recycling and partnerships

Trinseo continued developing mechanical, physical and chemical recycling capabilities in 2025. A polymethyl methacrylate depolymerization demonstration facility in Rho, Italy, was instrumental in certifying ALTUGLAS™ R-LIFE™ acrylic resins to ISO 14021 standards. An acrylonitrile butadiene styrene dissolution pilot plant in Terneuzen, Netherlands, supported advancement of recycled-content ABS solutions. Collaborations with Indaver and Lapo were highlighted as examples of shared expertise and infrastructure accelerating circularity.

Standards and disclosure

The FY2025 report was prepared with reference to the GRI 2021 Universal Standards, incorporates the SASB framework, and is accompanied by a Core Impact Report to provide stakeholders with a broader view of the company’s value creation.
