TotalEnergies takes full ownership of Grandpuits advanced plastics recycling plant
- TotalEnergies acquired the remaining 35% stake in the Grandpuits plant following a restructuring of Plastic Energy’s shareholding, making it sole owner.

Transaction
As part of a restructuring of Plastic Energy’s shareholding, TotalEnergies agreed to acquire the 35% interest in the Grandpuits advanced plastics recycling plant that it did not already hold, bringing ownership to 100%.
Plant status and capacity
The Grandpuits plant in Seine‑et‑Marne began production in March 2026 and has an annual capacity to process 15,000 tonnes of plastic waste.
Process and outputs
The facility uses a pyrolysis process—heating plastic waste to high temperatures in an oxygen‑free environment—to transform hard‑to‑recycle household plastics, including material collected in yellow recycling bins and otherwise destined for landfill or incineration, into a synthetic (pyrolysis) oil.
Feedstock and product quality
TotalEnergies secured long‑term waste supply via a 2023 agreement with Citeo and Paprec; the produced synthetic oil can be used as circular petrochemical feedstock to make recycled plastics of comparable quality to virgin material, compatible with strict requirements including food contact and medical applications.
