Citeo

About Citeo

Citeo is a non-profit, mission-led eco-organization in France, approved under Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations. Formed in 2017 from the merger of Eco-Emballages and Ecofolio, it manages and finances the collection, sorting, recycling, and reuse of household packaging—including plastics—and graphic paper for over 98,000 client companies, from entrepreneurs to multinationals.

Citeo supports eco-design, provides regulatory tools, and invests in circular economy initiatives, achieving a 69% recycling rate for household packaging and graphic paper in 2024 (27% for plastics). It recycles 4 million tonnes of packaging annually, saving 2.3 million tonnes of CO₂ and 18 billion litres of water. Key projects include funding secondary sorting centers, R&D for recyclable plastics, and reuse systems covering 16 million people in select regions.

Operating since 1992, Citeo accelerates the transformation of waste into resources, aligning with EU circularity goals amid low plastic recycling rates.
