Acacia‑5 discovery and fast‑track development
TotalEnergies (38%, operator) announced the Acacia‑5 discovery on Block 17. First Oil will be achieved three months after the June 2026 discovery by fast‑tracking development using available capacity on the Pazflor FPSO; Acacia‑5 is expected to increase Block 17 production by 6,000 barrels per day.
Second 2026 exploration success
Acacia‑5 is the company's second exploration success in Angola in 2026, following a recent discovery on Block 0 where TotalEnergies holds a 10% interest alongside Chevron (39.2%, operator), Sonangol E&P and Azule Energy.
Entry into new exploration blocks
TotalEnergies signed agreements with ANPG to enter as operator with a 40% interest in Blocks 17/25 and 32/21, which benefit from extensive existing 3D seismic coverage and proximity to operated facilities, allowing for potential future tie‑backs to nearby FPSOs. In February 2026 the company also signed a Head of Agreement with ANPG and ExxonMobil to farm‑in with a 35% interest into Blocks 40, 41, 42 and 58 in the Benguela Basin.
